Research: One goal and various ways to achieve it

Research as the core axis of understanding the multiple needs of the beings in their essence represents, in itself, dynamic processes aimed at observing the phenomena from the multidimensionality of social dilemmas, promoting the generation of new knowledge in favor of the sustainable development of the nation. From this perspective, the Multidisciplinary Journal of Research Perspectives not only focuses on the observable, measurable, quantified and objective paradigmatic vision, but also on the complex, systemic, holistic, complementary and transformational perception in order to respond to the needs of the local, national, Latin American and international scope and understand the new social changes in which individuals find themselves as a biopsychosocial-spiritual-ecological being.

Under this vision, the history of investigative thought has been marked by the effort to study the nature of things, events and individual realities, with the purpose of comprehending reality permanently, specifically, the meaning of the linear, procedural and mechanistic thinking for global and integral understanding, reducing the complex to the simple and translating it into fragmented knowledge. In this sense, the complex framework of multiple human realities has been established from the illusion of admitting a reduced gaze on the reality to achieving the representation of itself as exact, unique and unchangeable.

Thus, multidimensional thinking is a loop of several interconnected ramifications of realities that contribute to the generation of new forms or styles of learning and allow the interpretation of knowledge as an element linked to social contexts, interactive dialectics and the onto-epistemic vision of human beings. In this way, the search for a new paradigm originates the derivation of a multi-method of human understanding in the theoretical construction to unite the separated and articulate what is disunited.

Understanding the research from the holistic and complementary approaches, allows us to understand the events from the multiple interactions that characterize it, as they occur in the real context, providing both an integrative attitude as well as an explanatory theory oriented towards a multicausal understanding or multidimensional processes of the subjects and their contexts.

The holistic approach in research deals with obtaining, producing and emancipating knowledge, raising awareness about the truth of the essence or of the human beings’ nature, as well as their environment. Therefore, this postulate is assumed to understand the individuals from a global, complementary and interactive vision of their spiritual, psychic, organic, social, cultural and energetic manifestations, both internally and with their peers. Likewise, such postulate is assumed from the scenery that is part of the beings to maintain the harmonic and functional balance. In this sense, the historical-social journey of the subject with its surrounding environment, leads to understand that the investigative processes involved in the contemporary world, represent in themselves a look at the past, but also at the present with a futuristic vision, grounded in the palpable need to assume them as an option within the unequal and globalized world.

Approaching research from all its ethical, political, social, cultural, economic and methodological components allows visualizing the human beings as subjects within the processes and their social context. In this sense, the subjects are assumed with a social-critical conscience, capable of recognizing themselves in the world and even transforming it, based on the dialogic postulate to establish horizontal relationships, as well as a reflective and co-constructed knowledge. In that way, the creation of knowledge is more a shared experience than an individual one. The interaction between the organism and the environment enables the emergence of new characters and traits, which implies a reciprocal and complex relationship between the individual and the context.

In view of the above, there is an urgent need for changes in the reform of thought, leading to rethinking the context and the complexity. In this respect, people require a thought that links, faces the excess of certainty and replaces the linear coincidence with a multireferential one. From this multidimensional vision, the Multidisciplinary Journal of Research Perspectives will offer a dissemination space for the presentation of different research proposals from different ways of observing the object or analyzing the phenomenon, allowing the confrontation of awareness, as well as the integrality of knowledge as a new epistemic way of understanding the complex world of the individuals from their being.
