Analysis of the Effectiveness of financial and tax auditing in fraud prevention [Efectividad de la auditoría financiera en la prevención del fraude en pequeñas y medianas empresas]

The main objective of this study was to analyse the challenges that financial auditing faces in fraud detection and prevention, focusing on the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Descriptive desk research was employed in 25 scientific papers. Specific strategies were identified, such as training in anti-fraud policies and the implementation of early detection systems. The findings highlight the need for an ethical and comprehensive approach to fraud prevention, fostering a culture of integrity and constant monitoring through tools such as forensic auditing, internal control and anti-fraud programmes. These measures are considered essential to mitigate risks and safeguard the integrity and stability of SMEs in a challenging business environment.
