Sleep is a physiological event that forms an integral part of the individual and his or her social structure. Considering the above information, the aim of this study is to determine sleep disorders and their psychosocial effects on health care workers at the Manuel Ygnacio Monteros Hospital, Loja, Ecuador, in the year 2023. The study was based on a descriptive approach with a non-experimental design, and the study universe consisted of 50 employees. Thirty-four per cent of the participants had experienced problems with patients due to tiredness caused by lack of sleep, while 66% had not experienced this type of problem. The prevalence of sleep disorders in healthcare workers, especially those with night shifts and high workloads, highlights the need to address this issue to ensure optimal job performance and patient safety.
