Active methodologies have emerged as essential pedagogical tools to transform traditional educational processes, facing the challenges of motivation, student engagement and academic performance. In this sense, the objective is to analyse active methodologies and student engagement from the perspective of motivation and academic performance. The research adopted a descriptive documentary methodology, the process was based on the systematic review of 17 scientific articles. Active methodologies constitute a fundamental pedagogical innovation that places the student as the protagonist of his or her own learning, promoting intrinsic motivation, autonomy and the development of essential transversal competences such as critical thinking, collaboration and creativity. These strategies, by integrating participatory and dynamic approaches, transform the educational process, favouring meaningful and relevant learning.
