The study aimed to analyse the integration of artificial intelligence in mathematics teaching as an innovative strategy to transform teaching and learning processes in higher education. A descriptive documentary design was used, involving a systematic analysis of fifteen bibliographic sources published between 2022 and 2025, structured in four phases: identification and selection, preliminary analysis, content analysis, and interpretative synthesis. The results identified five thematic categories: AI applications in mathematics education, including adaptive tutoring systems, automated assessment platforms, and dynamic visualisation tools; positive effects on academic performance through personalised formative feedback; factors influencing teacher adoption, such as pedagogical beliefs, technological skills, and institutional support; challenges related to technological equity and infoxication; and theoretical perspectives emphasising the subordination of technology to humanistic pedagogical objectives. Effective integration required a careful balance between leveraging technological capabilities and preserving fundamental pedagogical values, demanding simultaneous attention to teacher professional development.
