National strategy for strengthening and renewing the curriculum in Ecuadorian basic education [Estrategia nacional para el fortalecimiento y la renovación curricular en la educación básica ecuatoriana]

The research aimed to design a national strategy for strengthening and renewing the curriculum in Ecuadorian basic education. A descriptive documentary design was used, involving a systematic analysis of sixteen sources published between 2015 and 2025, structured in four phases: identification and selection, systematic content analysis, interpretative synthesis and strategy design, and conceptual validation through triangulation. The results generated a strategy articulated around five complementary axes: updating content with a focus on competencies and sustainability; strengthening teacher capacities through continuous training, pedagogical support, and learning networks; integrating cultural diversity and attention to special educational needs; incorporating contextualised educational technologies; and participatory evaluation and monitoring mechanisms. Effective implementation required careful navigation of complex political and institutional dynamics, broad consensus building, affirmative action policies to prevent inequities, empirical validation through pilot implementations, and financial sustainability with multi-year budget commitments that transcended political cycles.
