Right to health and access to health care [Derecho a la salud y el acceso a la atención medica]

The aim of this paper is to analyse the right to health and access to health care in Ecuador. Twelve articles were selected that addressed key issues such as the evolution of the health system, resource management, disparities in access to health care between urban and rural areas, and the health system's response during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis of the right to health and access to health care in Ecuador reveals that, although important advances have been made in the coverage and quality of the health system, structural challenges persist that limit the equity and effectiveness of these achievements. Corruption, insufficient public investment and disparities in care between urban and rural areas are significant obstacles that must be overcome to ensure that the right to health is fully realised for all Ecuadorians.
